Lohan’s Desposition

Posted in celebrity gossip on November 29th, 2007

Lindsay Lohan has been ordered to give a deposition for a negligence lawsuit filed against her earlier this year after crashing her car in October 2005.She is being sued by Raymundo Ortega for crashing her Mercedes-Benz into his red van in Hollywood, after allegedly drinking at celebrity hotspot The Ivy. Lohan’s attorneys have been attempting to have plans for Lohan to give evidence on videotape stopped because of fears the footage could later be sold for a large amount of cash to the tabloids. They claimed: “If a single picture of Ms. Lohan can sell for thousands of dollars, a videotape of the deposition will undoubtedly sell for tens of thousands of dollars, or more.” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Stern dismissed their argument and ruled Lohan must give video evidence.Lohan has filed her own counter-suit against Ortega, alleging he and a number of unspecified defendants caused the accident. A trial date has been set for both cases next year.

Simpson Pleads Not Guilty

Posted in celebrity gossip on November 29th, 2007

O.J. Simpson has pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping and armed robbery in relation to a sports memorabilia robbery in Las Vegas in September. Simpson and his two accomplices, Clarence Stewart and Charles Ehrlich, pleaded their innocence at the start of their criminal trial.Simpson is alleged to have stormed into collector Alfred Beardsley’s hotel suite at the Palace Station in Las Vegas along with five associates, and removed memorabilia items Simpson maintains were stolen from a storage facility. Three other co-defendants agreed to testify against Simpson as part of a plea agreement; Stewart, Ehrlich and Simpson face life imprisonment if found guilty. Beardsley and an associate claim guns were pulled during the stand-off, but the collector told the preliminary hearing earlier this month that Simpson wasn’t one of the men brandishing a weapon.

Photographer Guilty

Posted in celebrity gossip on November 28th, 2007

Photographer Jay Kaycappa has been found guilty of assaulting Heather Mills as he tried to take her picture. Mills told the jury in Brighton Magistrates Court that Kaycappa grabbed her shoulder as he attempted to take her photo in a Brighton, England subway in July 2006. The photographer had denied two charges of common assault. He claimed time codes on the photos taken on the day of the alleged attack did not support Mills’ story, giving him just two seconds to run towards her to grab her, before running back to take another image.

Rehab Or Jail

Posted in celebrity gossip on November 28th, 2007

Pete Doherty faces jail if he doesn’t undergo rehab to tackle his addiction to drugs. He pleaded guilty to possessing quantities of crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana and ketamine, as well as to two drunk driving offenses. Judge Davinder Lachhar told Doherty he would only avoid jail on the condition he entered rehab before he is due to be sentenced. Judge Lachhar said “If you go to this place to have detox and take advantage of it then we will see what sentence is appropriate when you next come. But if you do not, I can tell you now that you will go into custody.” Speaking to reporters outside court, Doherty vowed to abide by the ruling, saying, “I have got no choice, have I? It’s rehab or jail. I was going to rehab anyway to be honest with you, this is just a little push.”

Tyson Sentenced

Posted in celebrity gossip on November 20th, 2007

Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson was sentenced to three years probation for possession of a narcotic drug, cocaine, and three years probation for driving while under the influence. He also was ordered to serve one day in jail for the DUI. Tyson will serve that day in jail Tuesday. He is to report to a Maricopa County Jail in downtown Phoenix at 10 a.m. The sentence was handed down by Maricopa Superior Court Judge Helene Abrams. Tyson had faced up to 3.75 years in prison for the possession conviction and six months in jail for the DUI. The Judge warned Tyson that if he violates the terms of the probation, he still faces the prison time. Tyson was arrested Dec. 29, 2006, after a traffic stop after he had spent the evening at a Scottsdale club. A police officer said he saw Tyson wipe a white substance off the dashboard of the car and that Tyson’s speech was slurred.Authorities said they found drugs in Tyson’s pocket and car. Prosecutors had asked Abrams to send Tyson to prison for one year. Shane Krauser, a deputy county district attorney, said Tyson has a long arrest history including such offenses as rape, assault and a 2004 brawl in a New York City hotel.”Mr. Tyson is a repeat offender,” Krauser said. “His criminal history is substantial because it contains mostly violent offenses.” The prosecutor said Tyson never sought help until he was arrested and that he should be treated like any other defendant and not receive any preferential treatment because he had so many resources at this disposal.
