Walher In Jail

Posted in celebrity gossip on October 31st, 2007

Jason Wahler’s string of arrests have finally caught-up with him. He began serving a 30-day Seattle prison sentence for his April arrest on charges of assault and underage drinking.”Jason is taking full responsibility for his previous actions,” Wahler’s publicist Siri Gaber said in a statement. Wahler was arrested April 8 in Seattle, Washington and booked on charges of assault and criminal trespassing. According to the incident report, officers responded to a disturbance at a Marriott hotel where a security guard claimed two guests had been wrestling in the lobby. After issuing warnings to stop, the guard reportedly accused Wahler of punching him in the mouth before he was restrained by a friend. Wahler then allegedly fled the hotel, only to return “a short time later” when police found him passed out in a third-floor hallway “smelling strongly of alcohol.”"The 30-day sentence was handed to Wahler when he plead guilty to charges of assault and a minor exhibiting signs of intoxication,” Seattle City Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Ruth Bowman said. Wahler had also originally been charged with criminal trespassing, however that charge was dropped. According to Bowman, Wahler “could get out in 20 days for good behavior.” While he was not so lucky this time around, Wahler had already side-stepped an earlier jail stint. Last September, Wahler reportedly punched a tow-truck driver as well as a Los Angeles city employee and was accused of using racial slurs against the victims. He plead no contest to one count of battery and received a two-month jail sentence and was also required to attend a one-day program at the Museum of Tolerance. Wahler was due to begin serving his sentence in early May, but that was delayed by a judge due to a stint in rehab which he completed over the summer. Wahler also completed community service at a Laguna-area church mission; went to four Alcoholics Anonymous meetings a week; attended anger-management counseling; and also spoke at local high schools, warning students about the dangers of drinking irresponsibly and disobeying the law.”He has been through rehabilitation, done community service and has been attending AA meetings,” Gaber said in the statement. “He would like to be an example to young people to make them realize that there are consequences for bad behavior.”

Duane Chapman, known as ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ has offered to co-sign for the bond of jailed ‘Girls Gone Wild’ founder Joe Francis. After watching a jail house interview with Francis and independently researching Francis’ legal situation, Chapman said he thinks Francis has been mistreated by the Florida legal system and has offered to stand up for Francis in court.”I make this offer to the judge who is keeping Joe Francis behind bars,” Chapman said in a statement. “I will co-sign Joe’s bond, and if he violates his bail in any way; if he fools me or proves me wrong, I will personally track him down to the ends of the earth at no charge, and bring him back before the judge.” Chapman’s wife, Beth, who owns the bond company, has offered to write the bond, creating a double risk for the Chapmans. Francis has been behind bars, first in Florida and now in Nevada, for more than six months. Although bail has been granted in Nevada, while Francis awaits trial on federal tax evasion charges, his bond on a separate case in Florida, possession of contraband medication, has been revoked.

Paris Hilton’s humanitarian tour of Rwanda has been postponed by the foundation that organized the trip.”Due to the restructuring of the Playing for Good Foundation, the philanthropic trip to Rwanda that the foundation had previously planned with Paris Hilton has been postponed,” the organization said in a statement. Playing for Good Foundation is a children’s charity. On Hilton’s itinerary were visits to schools and health-care clinics “Paris has been a loyal and gracious supporter of Playing for Good, but the foundation has to regrettably reschedule this trip,” the organization said. “Playing for Good would like to thank Ms. Hilton for her generosity and her continued support of this initiative and is looking forward to rescheduling the trip with her at a later time.” Hilton announced last month she was planning a trip to Rwanda, the scene of genocide in 1994, because she hoped she could raise awareness about what people can do to help those in need. Spears’ Monitored Visits

Posted in celebrity gossip on October 31st, 2007

A court commissioner granted Britney Spears three monitored visits a week with her two small sons while ordering her to childproof her house and work out a schedule for the visits with ex-husband Kevin Federline, according to a ruling made Tuesday. Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon also required that Spears undergo random weekly drug and alcohol tests. Spears also must continue meeting with a court-appointed parenting coach, and the children must be in car seats when they are being driven, the ruling states. The ruling came after a three-hour hearing attended by both Spears and Federline. Extensive testimony was presented on a number of issues. Gordon previously said there was evidence that Spears is a “habitual, frequent and continuous” user of drugs and alcohol. He had previously withdrawn approval for her to even visit the children after finding she had failed to comply with some conditions for shared custody. He later withdrew the ban and allowed her to visit her sons, but only in the presence of a court-approved monitor.

Rock and five members of his entourage were taken into custody on a misdemeanor charge of simple battery. “The other customer was charged with criminal damage to property, a felony,” Parish said. Kid Rock was released from the county jail on bond about 5 p.m. The other customer was treated at a hospital for cuts and bruises. No one in Kid Rock’s group was hospitalized, police said.

Spears Visitation

Posted in celebrity gossip on October 23rd, 2007

Britney Spears has regained temporary visitation rights with her sons, her attorney said.”Yes, she has visitation with the children,” her lawyer, Anne Kiley, said. Spears was spotted driving with the boys in the San Fernando Valley. A court-appointed monitor was in the passenger seat of the white Mercedes convertible, and her sons were in the back seat. Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon had told Spears that she could not visit her two young children without a parenting coach present until she complies with a court order. Among other things, Gordon ordered her to undergo random weekly drug testing, citing evidence that Spears engaged in “habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol.” A hearing on the matter was scheduled for Oct. 26.

Spears Booked

Posted in celebrity gossip on October 17th, 2007

Britney Spears, accompanied by pal Sam Lufti and her lawyer, J. Michael Flanagan, reported to a Los Angeles police station to face misdemeanor charges of hit and run and driving without a valid license, police said. Officer Mike Lopez said Spears turned herself in around 9 p.m. and left about 45 minutes later. “Spears was fingerprinted and photographed,” he said.”She was fine, cooperative,” Lopez said. “She did her business and came out.” As she left the station, she said that all went smoothly. “They were nice,” she said of the police. The charges stem from an Aug. 6 wreck during which paparazzi filmed Spears steering her car into another vehicle as she tried to turn into a spot in a Studio City parking lot. The video showed her walking away after assessing the damage to her own car. The owner of the other car, Kim Robard-Rifkin, filed a police report three days later.Spears had been ordered to report for booking before an Oct. 25 court appearance.

Travolta Sues Owners

Posted in celebrity gossip on October 12th, 2007

John Travolta is suing the owners of the airport outside his exclusive “fly-in” community, claiming they lied to the Federal Aviation Administration to keep him from landing his Boeing 707 there. In the federal lawsuit, Travolta claims Greystone Airport owners James and Christine Garemore falsely changed the airport master record in 2006 to indicate that it could not support large airplanes. Travolta has a home at the Jumbolair Aviation Estates in Ocala, Florida and wanted to fly his Boeing 707 there. The lawsuit is seeking an injunction requiring the Garemores to immediately withdraw the 2006 report and authorize flights with the airport master record as it existed before. It also seeks to nullify the report because of false or misleading information to the FAA and to prohibit “future baseless filings.”"The runway is not suitable for heavy aircraft. It is cracking and breaking,” James Garemore said. “They are bringing this lawsuit against me, and all I was doing was trying to maintain safety here.” Michael J. McDermott, Travolta’s attorney, said Garemore’s comments about the runway not being safe for large airplanes is incorrect.”It’s spin in order to cover his butt because he knows that he is in big trouble for doing what he did, and we intend to establish that,” McDermott said. Travolta built an $8 million home in Ocala and has continually used the runway without incident, the lawsuit said. It also claims Travolta was assured he would be able to use the airport.

Evans Granted Divorce

Posted in celebrity gossip on October 7th, 2007

After a year of nasty allegations, country singer Sara Evans was granted a divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. Judge R.E. Lee Davies announced the agreement at a hearing. The two sides agreed on a joint custody plan for their three children and a split of marital assets. Evans also agreed to pay ex-husband Craig Schelske alimony of at least $500,000 over 10 years.”Both parties are fully committed to raising their children in a cooperative and positive way. Both parties are loving and caring parents,” said a brief statement filed with the court by the lawyers for both sides. “They request that everyone respect the family’s privacy.” Evans filed for divorce last October after 13 years of marriage, alleging that Schelske committed adultery, was verbally and emotionally abusive, drank excessively and frequently watched pornography in their home. Schelske denied all the allegations and responded in court documents that Evans filed for divorce the same day he discovered she was having an extramarital affair. Evans denied those claims.

Schmidt Found Dead

Posted in celebrity gossip on October 2nd, 2007

David Hans Schmidt, who plead guilty last month to attempting to extort Tom Cruise, was found dead of an apparent suicide in his Phoenix, Arizona home. Schmidt was under house arrest after agreeing to plead guilty to a $1 million extortion fiasco, using Tom Cruise’s stolen wedding photos. “Authorities went to Schmidt’s Phoenix home after a tracking device on him had not moved and he hadn’t checked in,” said police spokesman, Lt. Anthony Lopez. Schmidt was facing up to two years in prison after he had agreed to a plea agreement in the case. His attorney, Nancy Kardon, said she had spoken to Schmidt earlier this week and was preparing for an Oct. 11 hearing in federal court where he would enter his formal guilty plea to attempted extortion. She said she had planned to ask for probation.”I was greatly saddened by his loss and I found him to be a very kind man,” Kardon said. He was contacted by Marc Lewis Gittleman who had obtained the wedding photos after recovering them from a damaged computer hard drive brought in for repair by a photographer. Schmidt emailed Cruise with samples of the photos, and asked for more than $1 million to keep them off the market. Schmidt had brokered some of Hollywood’s most infamous deals in recent years, including the Dustin Diamond sex tape, Tonya Harding honeymoon sex tape, a Colin Farrell sex tape and other scandals.

Sutherland Faces Jail

Posted in celebrity gossip on October 2nd, 2007

Kiefer Sutherland, already on probation for a 2004 drunken driving arrest, was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence in a case the city attorney’s office said could put him in jail for more than a year.”Sutherland was charged with single counts of driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or above,” said city attorney spokesman Nick Velasquez.”If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of a year in jail and a minimum of four days,”Velasquez said.”We also charged him with a second DUI offense within 10 years, which we believe also violates the terms of his probation,” Velasquez added. If found guilty of violating probation, Sutherland could be sentenced to an additional six months. Sutherland remains free on $25,000 bail. He was scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 16. “Because he’s been charged with a misdemeanor, Sutherland won’t have to appear in court for his arraignment unless the judge specifically orders him to be there,” Velasquez said. Police said they stopped Sutherland shortly after 1 a.m. when they saw him make an illegal U-turn. He was arrested after failing a field sobriety test. Authorities haven’t disclosed his blood-alcohol level except to say it was .08 or above, exceeding Californias legal limit. Sutherland was also arrested for DUI in 2004, and in November of that year he pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count. He was sentenced to five years probation, 50 hours of community service and was ordered to attend an alcohol treatment program.
